This is an writing box case of Japanese WAJIMA lacquer ware dating from the 1880s, Meiji period. WAJIMA is the very famous popular lacquer ware of Ishikawa Prefecture in Japan. It measures 10.2" wide by 11.6" long and is 2.0 " deep. It is in excellent condition - the only exception being that the lid is very slightly warped. It comes in its original tomabako (signed box made specifically for the piece)...
