A Himalayan Wedding Necklace
August 2014 Auction by Far East Asian Art

This necklace consisting of 62 strands of glass beads and large silver beads. The silver beads are of coin silver. This is a traditional style wedding necklace known as tibari or nau guri and symbolizes that the woman wearing it is married. Worn by the middle hills groups of Nepal including the Tamang, Gurang and Kiranti peoples. It is also sometimes seen being worn in and around Sikkim, Northern India.
