Frowning seated Jizo Bosatsu in prayer, Meiji Era (1868-1912). A prayerful attitude on occasion does not go beyond the clasped hands. Judging from the looks of things, this Jizo is praying not so much for the release from suffering of innocent children as for divine relief from the private torments of obesity.
