A Late Meiji Cloisonne Kogo - Fan Shape
April 2014 Auction by Far East Asian Art
A nice late Meiji (circa 1890-1919) Japanese cloisonne (shippo) Kogo (incense container) in the shape of a fan decorated with flowers. All surfaces are covered with brightly colored enamels and there is a signature and seal to the left of the flowers. We do not know the translation. The kogo measures 2 1/2" wide by 3/4" high and is in excellent condition with no chips or restorations.
