An Early Ming Celadon Dish
July 2014 Auction by Far East Asian Art

This is a Northern Ming celadon dish with a very faintly impressed design of a bird in the center. The top and most of the bottom are glazed in a thick celadon glaze whilst the bottom is mainly unglazed with some spill over of the glaze. The dish measures 7 5/8” diameter and is 1 ¾” deep. The celadon glaze has a crackle finish. It is in excellent condition – one tiny ½” long area on the rim where the glaze did not take. There are two very small brown dots that are firing flaws...
