This is a relatively small lacquered natsume dating from the Taisho to early Showa period, circa 1925-1950s. It has a very pretty reddish brown lacquer base color. On the top of the lid there is a decoration of three double gourds with cords around the middle executed in gold makie lacquer. The natsume measures 2 ½” high and is 2 ½” diameter at widest.
