Tongzhi Porcelain Stem Dish, Mark and Period
September 2014 Auction by Far East Asian Art
A very well painted Chinese polychrome enameled stem bowl of the mid 19th century, featuring a hand painted nienhao (reign mark) of the emperor Tongzhi (1861-1875). The bowl displays beautifully and is in excellent antique condition without chips or repairs. There is a very fine hairline that can be seen on the backside (see last photo). Painting is bright and vibrant. These mark and period porcelains are getting increasingly difficult to find. Size is 5.25 inches diameter and 2 inches high.
