A Ming Dynasty Swatow Blue and White Dish

This is an excellent example of late Ming blue and white ceramics known as Swatow ware. In the classic reference book, “Chinese Blue and White Ceramics” by S.T. Yeo and Jean Martin, Arts Oriental, 1978 – “Late Ming blue and white ceramics were made in Kwantung and Fukier provinces and commonly found in S.E Asia and exported through the port of Swatow. This ware is heavily potted and boldly decorated with scrolls, dragons, phoenixes, etc...
