Pair Chinese Blue & White Teacups – Chenghua Mark
February 2013 Auction by Far East Asian Art
This is a very pretty pair of porcelain blue and white cups with a brown rim. They both have a similar design of ho-o birds (phoenix) flying among trees. Inside the base of each footed cup is the Chinese reign mark of the Chenghua Dynasty, 1447-1448. The mark is strictly an apocryphal honorific mark as the cups date from the late 19th to early 20th century. The cups measure 3 ¼” diameter at the top – 1 ½” diameter at the foot - and stand 2” high...
