Mallet-shape Shigaraki ware vase; TanseiFebruary 2019 Auction by Far East Asian ArtA large, powerful, Shigaraki ware vase of mallet-shape. Decorated with a mixture of ash-traces and kiln-encrustations with the area below the neck partly covered with a mottled olive glaze. The piece has a very nice, earthy quality and a fine sense of sabi-wabi. Signed Tansei, with fully signed kiri-box and yellow cloth in unusually good calligraphy. From around the 1970's. H 27 cm, D 12.5 cm. Condition: Perfect.
