A Fine Japanese Kamakura-Bori Covered Box – Edo/Meiji

This is a truly gorgeous Kamakura-Bori round lacquer box with a deeply carved design of flowering lotus and leaves on the top and all sides. The box measures 8 ½” diameter and is 3 ¾” high. It is one of the most deeply carved examples of Kamakura-Bori lacquer we have ever seen or owned. We date it to the late Edo to early Meiji period, circa 1850-1880s.
