An interesting and decorative, square vase of stoneware by the Mashiko artist Akashi Shosaku (b. 1946).* The sides of the body decorated with a deep, iron-brown glaze over thin, raised bands to forms stripes. The top is covered in a thick, creamy ash glaze which only covers partly. Signed with artists’ mark “Aka.†Inscribed and signed storage box kiri-tomobako.. H 21.5 cm, W 12 cm.
