A large and heavily thrown charger of a Satsuma-like, soft-paste ware decorated in polychrome enamel colors in high relief with an amusing rendering of the Seven Gods of Good Luck in animated play over two wrestling rats. Signed: Shoge, Yokohama. Japan, late Meiji, ca. 1900. H 6 cm, D 36.5 cm. Condition: Good (no chips or breaks), but some wear due to age and use.
