A Rare Chinese Warring States Dynasty Pottery Animal

This interesting and rare unglazed pottery animal is believed to date to the Chinese Warring States period.(see footnote**). It is hand molded in the shape of a somewhat splay footed animal standing on all four legs. It is impossible to tell whether it was made to represent a real animal such as a bear – or is a mythical representation of some creature. The piece measures 7 ¼” long – stands 4 1/8” high – and is 2 ½” wide. It is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips...
