This is a fine little country pottery shallow bowl with overglaze enamels of green and lavendar clouds on a yellow ground. There are also three stylized green bats on the exterior of the bowl. The Chinese word for bat is “fu,” which is a homophone of the word that means “good fortune.” The bat is thought to bring good fortune, happiness and longevity.
