A Pair of Light Celadon Vietnamese Jarlets – 15th-16th
December 2012 Auction by Far East Asian Art
A nice small pair of light celadon Vietnamese two handled jarlets which we believe date to the 15th-16th century. The glaze ends about two thirds of the way down each jarlet and the rest of the base is unglazed. One of the jarlets has vertical stripes made by the potter using a finger to scrape down the piece and leave these stripes. One jar is 2 1//2 “high and 2 ½” diameter at the waist – the other is 2 5/8” high and 2 7/8” diameter at the waist. They are in excellent condition.
